Iroha Production (いろは企画) (the "Operator") sets out below how user information is handled on 9maps.com and in the services provided under it (together, the "Service").
This is a translation of the Japanese original, provided for convenience. If the two differ, the Japanese version governs.
1. Our approach
The Service requires neither registration nor sign-in. There is no screen at all that asks for your name, address, telephone number or email address, and the Operator never receives any of these.
2. Information recorded automatically
In delivering the Service, the hosting provider's servers automatically record the following, as on any ordinary website.
- IP address
- Browser type and version (user agent)
- Date and time of access, and the address of the page viewed
- Referring address, where you arrived from another site
These are used to deal with improper access and to confirm that delivery is working correctly. They are not used to identify individuals.
3. Analytics
To understand which pages are viewed and how often, the Service uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It has the following properties.
- It uses no cookies. Nothing is stored on your device to identify you
- It does not record the part of a URL after "?" (the query string)
- It does not track behaviour across sites
What is recorded is aggregate information such as the address of the page viewed, the referrer, the country, the device type and how long the page took to display. It is not used to identify individuals.
No cookie-based analytics tool, such as Google Analytics, is used.
4. Cookies and browser storage
The Service does not use cookies.
To make pages display faster, however, it stores a single number in the browser's session storage: how many pages you have viewed in that tab. That number is used only to decide whether to pre-load other prefectures' data for someone who is on their second page or later. It contains nothing that could identify a user, it is never sent to the Operator's servers, and it disappears when the tab is closed.
5. About pre-loading
On the Population Flow Map, while the screen is idle, map data for the prefectures most likely to be opened next is loaded in advance. This is to make pages display faster, and what is loaded simply sits in the browser cache. Please note that this does use data (roughly 3 megabytes if every prefecture is loaded).
6. Communication with external services
Displaying the Service involves communication with the following external services. The Operator provides none of them with user information, but by the nature of the communication your IP address and browser information are sent to each provider.
- Google Fonts (Google LLC) — to load the typefaces used on screen. Privacy policy
- Cloudflare, Inc. — to deliver the Service and for the analytics described above. A small analytics program is loaded from static.cloudflareinsights.com.
7. About the share function
Images created from the share button are generated entirely inside the user's browser. They are never sent to the Operator's servers.
If you press a social network button, you move to that network's posting screen. How information is handled there is governed by each provider's privacy policy. The Operator passes no user information to any social network.
8. Provision to third parties
Except where required by law, the Operator does not provide information it has obtained to third parties.
9. Requests for disclosure, correction or deletion
Because the Service holds no information that can identify a particular individual, there is in principle no information for the Operator to disclose in response to such a request. For questions about server access logs, please use the form given in "9. Contact" of the Terms of Use.
10. Changes to this Policy
The Operator may change this Policy as necessary. Changed content applies when it is posted on this page.
